Ella Camily McWhite, 87, of Greenville, who helped manage and develop camps for girls through South Carolina Woman’s Missionary Union, died March 4, 2010.
Born in Greenville, she graduated from Mars Hill College and Southwestern Baptist Seminary.
In the early 1970s, McWhite worked as a director of special community services for Bacon County, Alma, Ga. In 1975 she became director of Mission Friends and a business manager of Camp Rawls for South Carolina WMU. In 1980 she became a business manager for WMU camp, working with the operation of Camp Rawls and assisting with the development of Camp La Vida.
Previously she served as educational director for churches in South Carolina and Georgia. She most recently was attending West Gantt First Baptist Church in Greenville.
She is survived by two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
