Fisherman’s T-shirts help feed hungry

The Baptist Courier

Robert Case, a member of Glendale Baptist Church in Spartanburg County and an admitted fisherman, came home from the lake one day with a nice string of crappie. He let the fish go bad, and he felt plenty guilty about it.

“The Lord supplied that food, and I let it go to waste,” Case said. “I felt like the Lord was telling me to do something to help feed the hungry.”

What he did was design a T-shirt with a cross encircled by the words, “Love and Fishes,” and a reference to Psalm 91:2: “He is my refuge and my fortress.”

Case began selling the T-shirts for $15 each through his church and by word-of-mouth. The proceeds have gone directly to local ministries, including Total Ministries, Miracle Hill, the Spartanburg Soup Kitchen and The Haven, a shelter for women and children.

“We think about the hungry at Thanksgiving and Christmas,” said Case, “but people are hungry all year round.”
