Piney Grove Baptist Church, Lake View, will celebrate its bicentennial during an 11 a.m. worship service on April 11.
Jim Austin, executive director-treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, will be guest speaker.
Piney Grove started out as Saw Mill Baptist Church in 1810. Around 1847, the church fell into a state of decline. The church was reorganized in 1848 on its present site, and it was renamed to reflect its location in a grove of pines. The church was formally constituted as Piney Grove Baptist Church in 1859.
First recognized by Cape Fear Association, and, later, Robeson Association of North Carolina, Piney Grove became associated with Pee Dee Association in South Carolina in 1880.
The building was replaced around 1895, and handmade columns and pews were installed. The church added an education wing in the 1950s and a fellowship hall in 2005.
