“Preaching to Change Lives” is the theme of the second annual Preaching Boot Camp at Anderson University, scheduled for July 26-28.
The ministry training event will feature Steve Gaines, pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church, Memphis; Michael Hamlet, pastor of North Spartanburg First Baptist, Spartanburg; and James Emery White, pastor of Mecklenburg Community Church, Charlotte.
In addition to the featured speakers, two Anderson University faculty members will lead sessions. Michael Duduit, dean of the College of Christian Studies and editor of Preaching magazine, will lead a pre-conference workshop on “Planning Your Preaching.” Bryan Cribb, assistant professor of Christian Studies, will lead a series of Bible studies based on the Winter Bible Study book for 2011.
The conference begins with lunch on Monday and concludes early Wednesday afternoon. The pre-conference session will be offered Monday morning from 9 a.m. until noon.
Regular cost for registration is $195, but until June 1 there is a discounted registration fee of $145. Spouses or additional registrants from the same church can register for $100. The registration fee includes all conference sessions, materials, lunches and refreshment breaks. Persons who wish to stay in campus housing that week can do so for an additional $100 for three nights.
Because of special support from the South Carolina Baptist Convention, scholarships of $100 are available to the first 30 South Carolina Baptist pastors who register. Their cost will be $95 each, instead of the normal $195.
“God has called us to preach so that through us he can change lives,” said Duduit. “We believe this will be an encouraging and helpful conference for anyone who preaches and teaches God’s word, and it will make a difference in the effectiveness of their ministry in the future.”
