The 14th annual Screven Baptist Association Camporee was held April 16-18 at Givhans Baptist Church. Ten churches were represented, with a total attendance of 200.
Participating churches included Givhans, Eutawville, Sandridge, Harleyville First, Harristown Road, Wassamasaw, Victory, Berkeley, Providence and Jedburg.
Boys competed in 18 different events, including paintball, archery, golf, soccer, baseball speed pitch, egg toss, water balloon toss, and tug of war. Trophies were given to the winners of the Bible drill competition.
The weekend was full of opportunities to hear God’s word, from the song service on Friday evening to the Sunday morning service led by Tommy Wolpert of Eutawville Church. Spontaneous testimonies were given by some of the boys during the Saturday evening service.
“It was humbling to see these young boys courageously come forward and speak in front of this crowd about what God has done in their lives,” said Jennifer Walters of Harleyville First Baptist Church.
Throughout the weekend, there were several professions of faith. “It was inspiring to see these men and youth from different churches and backgrounds coming together in unity for the sole purpose of showing these boys Christian fellowship,” Walters said.
