Anderson University to be home base for SBC camps next year

Anderson University is partnering with LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention to host a series of CentriKid camps beginning in 2011.

LifeWay will consolidate camps previously held in various locations in the Upstate, resulting in a series of 6 to 8 week-long camps for up to 900 kids each week at the Anderson campus.

Anderson will continue its partnership with the Wayfarer camps for high school youth, but the addition of the CentriKid camps will provide a busy and lively campus atmosphere all summer long at AU.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to work with a valuable Baptist partner in this way,” said Evans Whitaker, president of Anderson University. “Not only will the camps give thousands of young people exposure to a great university campus, they will also provide opportunities for many of our college students to invest in the lives of these children over the summer.

“These camps are often spiritually pivotal times in the lives of attendees as they have fun while learning to explore God’s plan for their lives. As a Christian university, this makes our partnership with LifeWay exciting and deeply satisfying.”
