JEREMY MERCK has been called as pastor of Red Hill Baptist Church, Pickens. Merck was educated at the Southern Baptist School of Biblical Studies in Jacksonville, Fla., and at Clemson University. He was ordained May 23 at Kings Grove Baptist Church in Central, where he had served as minister of music and youth. Participating in the ordination service were Merck’s father, Billy Ray Merck, pastor of Fairview Baptist Church, and his grandfather, Boyce Whitman, pastor of Gap Hill Baptist Church.
RICHARD McWHITE has been called as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Barnwell. He previously served as minister of education and outreach for 19 years at South Main Street Baptist Church and as interim pastor at Callie Self Baptist Church, both in Greenwood. McWhite and his wife Patricia, a native of Greenwood, have two children and three grandchildren.
