Jim Simpson, discipleship and prayer strategist of the South Carolina Baptist Convention multiplication team, will retire from the SCBC staff effective July 6.
Jim SimpsonSimpson, 62, has served for 23 years in several SCBC staff positions related to local church discipleship ministry.
The son of a Southern Baptist pastor, he is a North Greenville College and Carson-Newman College graduate. He received his master’s and doctor of ministry degrees from Southeastern Seminary.
Simpson served churches in North Carolina and Tennessee before joining the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina in 1977 as an associate in church training. In 1987, he joined the SCBC staff.
He and his wife Sharon are members of St. Andrews Church, Columbia, where Sharon has served 20 years as minister of childhood education.
