Theron Harvey Tomlinson, who retired Jan. 1 as pastor of Lynchburg First Baptist Church, died June?5, 2010, after a lengthy battle with heart disease.?
Theron TomlinsonPastor of several churches in South Carolina during a span of 32 years, he was a member of the Ministers Advisory Council for Charleston Southern University (now the Ministers Support Network), past moderator for the Chester and Reedy River associations, and a trustee of South Carolina Baptist Ministries for the Aging from 2003-2008.
Tomlinson, 74, was employed with DuPont Industries of Florence for 17 years before his call to the ministry in 1978. He graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and was ordained by South Florence Baptist Church. Four men answered calls to the ministry during his pastorates.
Survivors include his wife, Saundra Prosser Tomlinson, two daughters and one granddaughter. Son-in-law Quinn Hooks is pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church in Effingham and a trustee of The Baptist Courier.
