Terry PleasantTERRY E PLEASANT began duties as senior pastor of Little Mountain Baptist Church, Wellford on Aug. 1. He has served churches in North and South Carolina for 34 years, most recently at Calvary Baptist, Gaffney, for the past nine years. He was second vice president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention in 2009, and is on the board of trustees for Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood. Since 1995, he has been a chaplain for the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, and is the author of two books. Pleasant attended North Greenville and Furman universities, and Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute. He and his wife, the former Sonya Humphries of Campobello, have one daughter, Ana Alicia.
James AvantJAMES AVANT began duties as pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Pelzer, on June 28. He previously served as pastor of Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church in Piedmont and formerly was associate/youth pastor at Blue Ridge View Baptist Church in Pickens. Avant, a native of Walterboro, graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in 2007. He and his wife Sharon have two sons and two grandsons.
