Having attended Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, Spartanburg, together for several years, the members of “Echoes of Hope” – Clayton and Hope Houchins, and Todd and Carmela Rice – began teaching Sunday school together in 2006. In the spring of 2006, Clayton and Hope’s 17-year-old niece, Hannah Sobeski, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive sarcoma, an ugly cancer that Hannah battled for six months before going to be with the Lord. After Hannah’s death, a ministry was formed from her legacy of faith in the Lord, Hannah’s Hope Ministries. The quartet was singing together at their church, but the Lord opened other doors and the group became Echoes of Hope. Much of their music speaks of the grace, peace, mercy and strength they held to during Hannah’s journey and continue to hold to.
