The leadership team of Waccamaw Baptist Association Woman’s Missionary Union joined missionaries in Lynch, Ky., recently to minister alongside them.
Team members Rachel Fleming, Rachel Mason and Esther Strickland with John and Melissa Fitzwater of Loaves and Fishes.A team of four traveled from Conway to Lynch on July 24 and returned July 31. The team reported being “more blessed than we were a blessing.”
Representing churches, companies, and individuals from Waccamaw Association, Batesburg, and Columbia, the team was able to carry to Lynch the following evidence of God’s love and caring:
– To Loaves and Fishes, a check for $419.50 to assist in its ministry distributing groceries once per month to needy individuals and families;
– To Cumberland Elementary School, school supplies for distribution to children;
– To Meridzo Ministries and the Freedom Center, hand-knitted and crocheted caps and scarves for distribution through its clothing ministry;
– To children at Club 180 Summer Camp, dental hygiene items, health kit packets for adults, and health packets (with toys) for children. The team also provided “goody bags” filled with items including New Testaments, salvation dolls and snack treats.
The Waccamaw team witnessed an outdoor baptism at a Club 180 meeting.The team expressed appreciation for both “physical and spiritual resources” provided by individuals, churches and others as they ministered in Kentucky’s tri-city area of Lynch, Benham and Cumberland.
The group provided Bible stories and related arts and crafts for “Club 180 Olympics” during summer day camp, and helped deliver hot meals. The group also visited and witnessed.
The Waccamaw team had opportunity to meet and work with Kentucky missionaries in that area: Melissa and John Fitzwater; Angela and Terry Burkeen; Robin and George Lewis (George is a native of Conway); and Linda Sim.
Team members Esther Strickland and Peggy Jones and Acteens Rachel Mason and Rachel Fleming said they believe “God in his perfect timing will cause a bountiful harvest as a result of the mission trip.”
