Adopt NOW seeks to place children in Christian homes

The Baptist Courier

Adopt NOW (No One Waiting) is an adoption initiative working with the South Carolina Department of Social Services to pair children in the foster care system with Christian families. An existing orphan ministry at East Pickens Baptist Church began Adopt NOW last fall and plans to take the initiative statewide through partnerships with South Carolina Baptist churches.

Adopt NOW educates Christian families about the needs foster care children have and connects them with the appropriate DSS services to begin the application process to either adopt or become foster parents.

Adopt NOW promotes other ministry opportunities for foster care children and families, including prayer support and “spiritual adoption,” Christmas presents, and back-to-school supplies.

“We pray that these children will not only have a permanent earthly family, but also that they will one day join the family of God through a relationship with Jesus Christ,” said Greg Edens, an Adopt NOW coordinator and adoptive parent.
