North Greenville University students win Christian media awards

North Greenville University mass communication students brought home multiple awards from the 2010 Collegiate Journalism Conference Oct. 7-9.

Student publications across the country submitted their work for judging. The conference was sponsored by Baptist Press.

In the broadcast division, NGU’s Vision 48 News won first place overall. Wendy Greve, a junior from Rural Hall, N.C., received third place in art illustration. In portrait spread design, Ashley Marquiss, a sophomore from Palm Bay, Fla., took second place. Lydia Secrest, a sophomore from Winston-Salem, N.C., was second in the student life copy division, and Jordan Ecarma, a junior from Travelers Rest, won third place in the feature story division.

“It’s rewarding to see that our students’ work has been acknowledged,” mass communication professor Reggie Ecarma said after attending the conference. – NGU
