North Greenville University students recently spent a week in continuous prayer for a “24/7 Week of Prayer.”
Around the clock, students came in shifts during the week of Nov. 1-7 to Tigerville Baptist Church to pray.
“My passion is global missions,” said student organizer Will Broadus, of Taylors. “But you can’t have missions without prayer.” Broadus introduced the idea last semester, organizing a day devoted to prayer. This year, he expanded the event to a week. More than 100 students volunteered to fill the 160 hours designated for prayer.
In high school, Broadus was part of the Greenville House of Prayer, which hosts similar events in Greenville County and is a branch of the International House of Prayer, which is based in Kansas.
Broadus said he was also inspired by CampusAmerica, an organization that strives to bring the 24/7 prayer movement to college campuses around the world.
Broadus plans to have another prayer event next semester, one he hopes will last even longer.
“We need to have a passionate love for God,” he said. “That is made manifest in prayer and worship. Jesus said that the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore, pray.” – NGU
