Pam Carroll, a retired banking executive, has been named chief financial officer for the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
CarrollCarroll, who had been serving as interim CFO for the convention since the retirement of James Wright in May 2010, was elected by members of the SCBC Executive Board, meeting Dec. 9 in Columbia. She was recommended by three of the board’s standing committees: administration; planning and ministries; and budget, finance and audit.
“It is an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to serve the Lord through the ministry of the South Carolina Baptist Convention,” Carroll told the Courier. “You spend a lifetime preparing for a career position which makes you feel that you are doing something worthwhile. I am humbled to be in this position and to serve my fellow South Carolina Baptists.”
Before retiring from banking, Carroll was a senior vice president and senior trust officer with Bank of America.
She served as a trustee of the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina for three terms and was chair of the finance committee.
She is a graduate of Missouri State University and earned a master of education degree from the University of South Carolina. She also is a graduate of the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University.
Carroll is former president of the Columbia Estate Planning Council, a former board member of Palmetto Place for Children, and a former member of the Women’s Board of Baptist Medical Center.
She is married to Ronald L. Carroll, vice president of Palmetto Baptist Medical Center. They are members of Columbia First Baptist Church.
