Scholarships for South Carolina Baptist college and seminary students pursuing a church-related vocation are now available through the state convention’s collegiate ministry group.
Active resident members of a South Carolina Baptist church who are enrolled in a South Carolina college or university and/or a Southern Baptist seminary are eligible to apply for the scholarships. Applications must be made each year in order to be considered. Southern Baptist missionary dependents whose parents list South Carolina as their home state are also eligible to receive the scholarships.
All scholarships are based on financial need, and funds are sent directly to the institution of choice to be applied for tuition, room and board, and academic fees. The funds are provided through the Cooperative Program and the Richard Furman Scholarship Fund.
College scholarships are awarded to full-time students who have made a public commitment to a church-related vocation, who are active resident members of a South Carolina Southern Baptist church for at least nine months prior to the beginning of the academic year, and who agree to participate in a ministry-related experience each week.
Richard Furman Scholarships for seminary students are awarded to South Carolinians who are members of a Southern Baptist Convention church and are attending one of the six Southern Baptist seminaries: Golden Gate, Midwestern, New Orleans, Southeastern, Southern, or Southwestern.
Applications may be completed online at http://www.scbcm.org/scholarships. Deadline for submitting applications online is March 15. For further information, contact the collegiate ministry group at 800-723-7242, ext. 4400, or by e-mail at CRVS@scbaptist.org.
