I did not see the original article Roger Upton of Gaffney was responding to (“Your Views,” Jan. 20), but I simply want to add an “Amen!” to his comment that too many preachers today are content with emotionally manipulating an audience rather than proclaiming biblical truth. An even sadder fact is that the resulting numerical success is too often celebrated in Southern Baptist life by holding such pastors up as great producers of “fruit.”
