On April 6, more than 300 students at Charleston Southern University signed a banner with notes of appreciation for the school’s various donors. CSU students received nearly $15 million in scholarship and grant support in the 2010-2011 academic year. Of that amount, more than $1.8 million came from the South Carolina Baptist Convention’s Cooperative Program. On average, 36 percent of a student’s tuition is covered with scholarship and grant funding, which means, statistically, starting in early February, tuition for the student is paid until the end of the school year through gifts and grants.
