Ministers don’t retire

The Baptist Courier

In response to the letter, “Utilize older pastors” (May 12), I wholeheartedly agree. Our church was going through a great transition from a longtime leader before I came. We were blessed to have a strong interim in Rev. Don Waldrop. He served for 16 months before the church called me as senior pastor. Three months after, we extended a call to him as minister to senior adults. Since then we have added members in two areas, 25-45 and 65 and over.

Don moved from being a specialty pastor to a team member. Through the team God has called at our church, we are heading into areas of ministry we’ve never experienced before.

Guys, if you have a retired pastor in your church, put him to work! You might retire in life – but never from ministry.
