Upstate Evangelism Conference kicks off Aug. 7

The event, which brings together noted preachers and teachers from across the Southern Baptist Convention, is also sponsored by cooperating churches in the area. Wayne Dickard, former president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, is pastor at Siloam.

Program personalities at the 2011 conference will include:

– Daniel Dickard, student minister, Siloam Church;

– Braxton Hunter, evangelist and director of Trinity Crusades for Christ, Newburgh, Ind.;

– Jeff LaBorg, pastor, Bishop Branch Church, Central;

– Ron Lynch, revivalist/evangelist, Indian Trail, N.C.;

– Herb Reavis, pastor, North Jacksonville Church, Jacksonville, Fla.;

– Phil Waldrep, author and evangelist, Phil Waldrep Ministries, Trinity, Ala.;

– Bobby Welch, retired pastor and former president of the Southern Baptist Convention; and

– Mike Whitson, pastor, First Church, Indian Trail, N.C.

Music will be provided by Phil Cross, Joe and Suzanne Hopkins, and area choirs. Worship begins nightly at 6:30.

A pastor’s banquet will be held at 5 p.m. on Aug. 8. The meal is free to pastors and their wives. Because of limited seating, reservations are encouraged by calling 864-269-3921. Herb Reavis will speak at the banquet.

On Aug. 10, a free “pizza blast” at 5 p.m. is open to all youth. Daniel Dickard will be the guest speaker.
