The congregation of Kelleytown Church, Hartsville, recently recognized Betty Taylor, center, for 43 years as a teacher at the church’s kindergarten. Taylor has been on the teaching staff at Kelleytown’s kindergarten since it began in 1968. Pictured with Taylor at the May 21 graduation ceremony are pastor Rod Elliott, who presented her with a plaque of appreciation from the church, and kindergarten director Mary Cassady.

 

Michael C. Coleman, minister to students for the past five years at Ocean View Church, Myrtle Beach, was commissioned as a U.S. Army chaplain (captain) on May 1. He reported to Fort Jackson in Columbia on May 22 to begin chaplain basic officers leadership course training for the next three months, and will then report to Fort Campbell, Ky., to serve with the 101st Airborne Division. He and his wife Jerri have three children: Catherine, Christian and Caleb. Pictured with Coleman, right, are Chaplain (Col.) Keith Travis, retired from NAMB (seated), and Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Over the past year, the Baptist Men of Rivelon Church in Orangeburg have built wheelchair ramps, repaired a bathroom, built a concrete landing at the end of a ramp, and completed several projects for needy or disabled people in the Orangeburg County area. Linda Branyon (right) was elected regional vice president of South Carolina WMU at its annual meeting March 12 at Monaghan Church, Greenville. Branyon is a member of Barker’s Creek Church, Honea Path.
