I wholeheartedly support the recently released Great Commission Resurgence Task Force report. As a pastor, when I have explained how a majority of our cooperative giving never leaves the state of South Carolina, I have received reactions of shock and dismay. When more than 300 million people across the world do not have a translation of the Bible in their own language, should that not be our priority? Should our priority, then, not be seen in how we channel our missions giving? I applaud the task force for working together to produce a strong set of recommendations that both strengthens our support for reaching those who live in darkness as well as strengthens our South Carolina institutions. I look forward to joining with my fellow South Carolina Baptists in Columbia this November to affirm our commitment to fulfilling the Great Commission.
