The Courier is interesting and informative. In the Oct. 27 issue, about a page and a half is devoted to a very fine-print listing of all the churches in the SCBC showing what budget gift each church has (or has not) given this year. Maybe I’m missing something, but I see no need for publishing such detail. Members of each church should know what they give; this is available from their local treasurer. We do not need to know what others have given; it can lead to pride (or despair).
The Courier’s quarterly reporting of churches’ giving to the South Carolina Baptist Convention’s budget is in keeping with the “Business and Financial Plan of the Executive Board” as published in the SCBC annual. – Editor
