
Ehrhardt Baptist Church, along with other churches and individuals in the community, sponsored the third annual “Come to the Table” for area residents. Begun as a soup supper the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and followed by a similar event in the spring, it has now become a Thanksgiving Day tradition. More than 75 meals were prepared and served at last November’s event. In addition to “Come to the Table,” the community also sponsors a food/clothes closet ministry called “Two by Two.”

The GAs of Cross Roads Baptist Church, Easley, recently collected enough items to fill 50 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. During their Wednesday night meetings, the girls packed and wrapped the boxes filled with items donated by church members.

The children’s Sunday school class for ages 6-8 at Emerald Baptist Church, Greenwood, recently raised $200 for the children of Connie Maxwell Children’s Home by making and selling Christmas ornaments. The idea came from 2nd grader Lee Duncan (center), who had visited Connie Maxwell during its annual Christmas Lights event and wanted to make a contribution to the children’s home. The members of Canaan Baptist Church, Cope, recently held a Christmas toy drive for the children of Peytona Baptist Church in West Virginia. Church leaders challenged the congregation to collect 40 toys and agreed to dress as elves if the goal was met. A total of 200 toys were collected as a result. Pat Ashworth (second from left) was installed as pastor of Monte Vista Baptist Church, Mountain Rest, on Dec. 11. The service featured special music by the Eernisse Family. Red Dam Baptist Church, Hardeeville, hosted a Walk-Through Nativity for the community on Dec. 18. In addition to the church members who participated, the special event also featured several live animals, including camels.
