I find value in history, and there is much in Southern Baptist history to be proud of. I remember a few years ago that many rural Southern Baptist churches were calling themselves “Missionary” more so than “Southern.” If there must be a name change (which I wonder about, as “South” is used even in our northern states, such as South Dakota) then “Missionary Baptist” would be my recommendation, for it tells what we claim to be and have been for a long time. Frankly, I think this [debate] is being used of Satan to distract us from God’s work.
