On Feb. 22, a signing ceremony was held for a partnership between “Creation Kidz” creator and author Joy Brown and North Greenville University.
Joy Brown, Jimmy Epting, and Wayne Brown sign an agreement for the production of “Creation Kidz,” a collaboration between Joy Brown and North Greenville University. The school’s art, mass communication, and theatre departments will provide the creative talents to bring “Creation Kidz” to life through illustrations, music, marketing, a stage play and a television series.
NGU will receive a portion of the proceeds from the productions, and NGU president Jimmy Epting said the partnership “will get students involved and help them build their r?sum?s and portfolios.”
Epting, Brown and her husband Wayne, along with executive producer Steve Large and his wife Rene?, were part of the signing ceremony.
The project began as a Bible study written for a women’s class at church. Its publication in 2006 led to the idea of writing a series of children’s books called “Creation Kidz.” The characters interact within the seven days of the creation, rather than just being told the story.
Brown met with Epting and the school’s executive council in June about making the ideas of “Creation Kidz” come together. The first book of the seven-book series has been distributed to several NGU department chairs. The TV pilot should be finished by the end of the spring semester, and the finished product should be completed at the end of the 2013 semester. – NGU
