CSU freshmen to explore ‘Why College Matters to God’

In August hundreds of freshmen will converge on the Charleston Southern University campus, bringing mountains of belongings and years of information, opinions, experiences and ideas about life.

However, there will be a common thread among them – a summer reading project and a freshmen seminar course based on the book, “Why College Matters to God,” by Rick Ostrander.

“The difference between a Christian university and other institutions of higher learning is this: A Christian college weaves a Christian worldview into the entire fabric of the institution, including academic life,” said Ostrander.

The book will shape new student orientation discussions and the first-year Christian Worldview 101 class in the fall. Ostrander’s book will also resonate with CSU’s faculty and staff, “as well as parents of our new students,” said Rick Brewer, vice president for athletics and student affairs. – CSU
