H.R. Saxon, 89, of Greenville, a retired pastor who served several Upstate churches, died May 23, 2012.
SaxonBorn in Honea Path, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and Luther Rice Seminary.
He ministered at Westwood Baptist Church, Limestone Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Agnew Road Baptist Church and Piedmont Heights Baptist Church, where he served until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Clara Lee Gosnell Saxon, he is survived by a daughter, a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
