“Miss Sarah” is the newest book by R.D. Roberts, a retired businessman and former staff member at several Columbia-area churches.
The book is a work of fiction set in the Deep South during the days of segregation. In the days just prior to World War I, Sarah and her parents, who are serving as missionaries in China, are forced to flee when the Japanese invade.
Sarah is not accustomed to the prejudice she finds in America. She refuses to take part in the disrespectful behavior she sees around her – not only among the people in the town, but also in her church. She commits herself to treating all people with respect, and her attitude gradually influences those around her.
The author is available to speak at senior citizens’ luncheon meetings at churches throughout the state. He previously met with many groups and had book signings with his first novel, “Walnut Grove.” He may be contacted at 803-787-2591 or at RDandSherry@bellsouth.net.
