Chris Smith, a native of Ravenel, has been named director of missions for Florence Baptist Association.
SmithSmith, a graduate of Charleston Southern University (1984) and Southeastern Seminary (1988), had served as pastor of Roberdel Baptist Church in Rockingham, N.C., since 2005.
In South Carolina, he previously served as pastor of Harmony Baptist Church, Elgin, and Mt. Zion Baptist Church, St. George.
A reception to welcome Smith and his wife, Tracy, and their children, Drew, Maggie and Olivia, will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, Florence, on Aug. 19 at 2:30 p.m., followed by an installation service at 3:30.
