Letter: Appreciate deaf ministry stories

Thank you for two excellent articles on deaf ministry in South Carolina that you published in the June 7 edition of the Courier. I am especially pleased that you emphasized the deaf by putting George Adams’ picture on the front page. He is one of the three deaf teachers in Ocean View Baptist Church. He is also a poet.

There are many good deaf Bible study teachers in South Carolina and, usually, they are more effective in their teaching because of their deafness. They are part of deaf culture. Deaf people see them as “one of us.”

Also, please thank Norman Cannada for the excellent job he did on both articles. Both articles were informative, and the article about Ocean View Baptist Church was inspiring.

I also noticed the picture of the IMB appointment service with the interpreter for the deaf.
