Johnny Rumbough, director missions for Lexington Baptist Association, was elected to a second term as president of the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Directors of Missions June 17 at the organization’s annual meeting in New Orleans.

“I am honored to serve an organization that is all about equipping and mobilizing missional leaders through local associations,” said Rumbough. “Associations are geographically and relationally postured to serve local churches with strategic missional planning, equipping, partnering and deployment.”
“I will do my best to serve in this strategic leadership role,” Rumbough said. “While these are challenging days for many associations, I believe the future is filled with new opportunities.”
Rumbough has served Lexington Association for 16 years. He previously was church extension consultant for Greenville Association and was founding pastor of Tega Cay Baptist Church in Fort Mill. He is a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Irmo.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Charleston Southern University and a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Seminary, and was awarded an honorary doctorate from Charleston Southern.
