Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Nichols, will hold its centennial celebration Oct. 28. Worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. with guest speaker J.C. Shelley, a former member of the church.

The church was organized in the spring of 1911 in the Cedar Creek community schoolhouse. In 1912, community members began work to build a church building, and on May 5 of the same year, the church was organized with J.E. Edwards serving as supply pastor.
In 1935, members decided to rebuild the church in a more centrally located area, where the current building still stands. A parsonage was built in 1954 and an education building was added in 1958. In 1987, lightning struck the church and caused extensive damage to the sanctuary. The building was renovated to its current state, and a steeple was added six years later. In 2004, a multipurpose room was built, and in 2010 an additional education wing was added.
Cedar Creek has had 36 pastors in its history. Alvin Jackson was called as pastor in August 2012.
