Connie Maxwell Baptist Church in Greenwood is celebrating its centennial. The church, located on the campus of Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, was formed Sept. 15, 1912.

The church set aside two time periods to hold celebratory events this year. The first was during the 2012 Alumni Reunion June 8-10. More recently, the celebration took place the actual week of the 100th anniversary.
Recognition of the four pastors who have served Connie Maxwell Baptist Church – A.T. Jamison, John Murdoch, Jay C. Collins, and current pastor Doug Kauffmann – was a high point of the celebration.
During its 100-year history, the church has averaged 20 baptisms a year. The centennial celebration concluded with two more students being baptized.

Connie Maxwell Baptist Church serves as a community church in addition to being a home church for the children’s home residents.
