Letter: WMU event educational

The Baptist Courier

At a recent “Coffee, Cookies, and Conversation” held at Jamestown Baptist Church, leaders and members of WMU within Waccamaw Association learned about the WMU Foundation. David George, foundation president; Debby Akerman, national WMU president; and Laurie Register, South Carolina WMU executive director, were present. Created in 1995, the purpose of the foundation is to support the mission and ministry of WMU at all levels.

Mr. George said a $34 Vision Fund gift supports one hour of WMU ministries such as Christian Women’s Job Corps, Missions FEST, Project HELP: Human Exploitation, WorldCrafts, Pure Water Pure Love, MK Reentry Retreats, and International Initiatives. The Joy Fund helps the day-to-day cost of providing missions education and resources. Through specific scholarships, help for college education is provided to missionary kids. WMU’s Touch Tomorrow Today Endowment provides help to both state and national WMU. The WMU Foundation’s board of trustees assures individual wishes are carried out and the needs of Woman’s Missionary Union are met.
