SCBC to close books at noon on Dec. 31

The Baptist Courier

The accounting staff of the South Carolina Baptist Convention is requesting that churches observe special end-of-year procedures for forwarding contributions in advance of a noon deadline on Dec. 31.

The convention building will be closed Dec. 24-28 in observance of Christmas; however, the accounting staff will be posting receipts on Thursday and Friday of that week (Dec. 27 and 28). The building will reopen for regular business on Dec. 31.

With the building closed Dec. 24-28, the U.S. Postal Service will not deliver mail sent to 190 Stoneridge Drive until after the deadline; however, the accounting staff will be checking the convention’s post office box, and churches are encouraged to mail contributions to P.O. Box 212999, Columbia S.C., 29221-2999. The post office box cannot accommodate overnight deliveries, according to an SCBC press release.

For gifts to be posted in 2012, churches will need to mail or hand-deliver checks so they reach the convention building no later than Dec. 31 at noon. All gifts received after the deadline will be posted as 2013 gifts. – SCBC
