Women’s ministry looks to be ‘Radiant’ in community

The Baptist Courier

Radiant, a women’s ministry leadership forum, is scheduled to take place Jan. 26 at Second Baptist Church in Lancaster. The discussion-based time of sharing is targeted to leaders of church and community women’s ministries and is designed to encourage leaders to get creative with evangelism.

“I would love to see these leaders implement new ideas and see their ministry as more outreach-driven, with the ultimate result of seeing women saved,” said Melanie Ratcliffe, women’s ministry coordinator at the South Carolina Baptist Convention.

Ratcliffe said discipleship studies are the most common ministry outreach churches offer for women but often lack intentional evangelism. Scheduled discussion leaders for the Radiant forum will guide participants in considering new methods of reaching the unchurched in their communities.

“I want women to feel a calling to women’s ministry and be equipped with tools and resources to help them do that. When women reach women through friendships and real relationships, we will see lives change,” Ratcliffe said.

Forum discussion topics will include identifying needs that can generate new ministries, reaching the younger generation and successful women’s church ministry leader secrets. The SCBC’s women’s ministry office is also collaborating with Woman’s Missionary Union for this event.
