Obituary: Bennie L. Ridlehoover

Bennie L. Ridlehoover, 89, of Greenwood, a long-serving pastor in the Upstate, died Jan. 10, 2013.

Born in Greenwood County on July 2, 1923, he served in the Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Bancroft.

After completing his service with the Navy, he was employed by Greenwood Mills. In 1952, he felt called to serve God and attended Erskine Theological Seminary.

During his ministry as a pastor, he served the following Baptist churches in South Carolina: Providence, Hodges; Mountain Springs, Piedmont; Selma, Woodruff; Bold Springs, Callison; and Horeb, Bradley.

Survivors include three children, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Dove Ridlehoover, and a daughter.
