First Baptist North Spartanburg Church will host a Southeast regional missions mobilization forum May 3-4.
The event is designed to help people who feel called to go to the mission field find agencies looking for people. MissionNext (www.MissionNext.org) is the sponsoring organization.
Ralph Carter, pastor of Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Taylors, and president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, will preach during the forum’s worship time. The two-day event will also include breakout sessions and networking opportunities.
Spartanburg-area Baptist churches are helping promote the forum.
“I believe this is especially relevant for Southern Baptists because we have reached a point that the [Southern Baptist International Mission Board] can no longer send all the people who want to go, either due to lack of funds or because so many don’t qualify due to marital status or health or kids’ ages,” said Al Phillips, associate pastor at First Baptist North Spartanburg.
Phillips said the event will “provide options for people under one roof rather than having to shop around to find sending agencies to help people get to the field.”
