Samuel Wesley Brashier was ordained to the gospel ministry July 21.
A third-generation minister, he was the first to be ordained at the new Scenic Hills Baptist Church just north of Travelers Rest, where his father, Tommy Brashier, is pastor. His grandfather, T. Walter Brashier Sr., delivered the ordination sermon, choosing the same biblical admonitions from Isaiah 6 for his grandson as he did decades ago for his son’s ordination service.
While performing his ministerial duties as the new associate director of the Baptist Student Union at North Greenville University, Wes Brashier is continuing work toward his doctor of ministry degree at the university. He recently completed the school’s requirements for the master of Christian ministry degree and previously graduated from The Citadel with a bachelor of science in business.
He and his wife Caitlin and sons Beau, 4, and Louis, 2, live in Travelers Rest.
His previous ministerial experience includes three years on the pastoral staff at Berea First Baptist Church, preaching and teaching at Earle Street, Paris View, Washington Avenue, Enoree and Marietta First Baptist churches.
Area ministers who participated in the service included: Randy Bradley, director of missions for Three Rivers Baptist Association; Marshall Sargent, associate pastor of Berea First Baptist Church, Greenville; Ronald Vaughan, pastor of St. Andrews Baptist Church, Columbia; Stephen Clyborne, pastor of Earle Street Baptist Church, Greenville; and Scott Lewellen, associate pastor at Scenic Hills Baptist Church.
