On June 30, Mayo First Baptist Church celebrated its annual homecoming with a ribbon-cutting and dedication of its recently renovated fellowship and children’s church facility.
The renovation project included upgrades to the fellowship area and a permanent home for the “Kids 4 Christ” children’s church program.
The building, originally constructed as a gymnasium/auditorium for the Mayo School in 1936, has long been a landmark in the Mayo community. It was purchased by the church in 1981 for use as a fellowship building.
The Kids 4 Christ center was dedicated to Denise Humphries for her tireless devotion to the children’s ministry of the church.
Daryl Tolleson, pastor, said he and members of the congregation are grateful to God that the project was completed without incurring any debt and that the church has “restored a building of historical significance to a beautiful and functional facility.”
