Swift Creek Baptist Church, Hartsville, dedicated a historical marker during its spring picnic celebration April 7. The church, which is currently a member of Welsh Neck Association, was originally affiliated with Charleston Association and began with 76 members. Swift Creek dates its founding to the late 18th century, with sources pointing to both 1783 and 1789 as the founding dates. Pictured beside the marker are two of Swift Creek’s oldest members: Eunice Rhodes Howle, 100 years old, and Henry Lyndal Lee Jr.
