The 2014 State Evangelism Conference, to be held Feb. 18-20 at Rock Springs Baptist Church, Easley, will include a breakout session for teens on the final night of the three-day event.
James Trapp, chaplain to Clemson University athletic teams, will lead the 6:30 session, which will be preceded by a pizza meal at 5:30.
Conference organizers also plan to formally recognize pastors who have served in ministry for at least 50 years. In addition, pastors who have mentored younger ministers of the gospel will also be recognized, said Randall Jones, a retired pastor and evangelist who, as a consultant to the South Carolina Baptist Convention, helps organize the annual conference.
The conference’s theme, “Legacy,” aims to “challenge the church to be intentional about passing on the truths of the gospel to the next generation,” and will be bolstered by preaching from three father-and-son combinations, said Lee Clamp, SCBC evangelism director.
The conference’s keynote speaker will be Michael Catt, senior pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga., and executive producer of the movies “Fireproof,” “Courageous” and “Facing the Giants.”
