Curtis Pettit retires after 20 years at Walterboro church

Curtis Pettit, pastor of North Walterboro Baptist Church since July 1994, retired Aug. 10. He is a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and formerly served as pastor of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church in Middlesex, N.C. During Pettit’s 20 years at North Walterboro, the church built a new fellowship hall and sanctuary, and established many community ministries. In 2002, the church also began a school, North Walterboro Christian Academy. The congregation held a farewell celebration for Pettit and his wife, Pam, on Aug. 16. They plan to reside in the Spartanburg area.
