CSU welcomes record number of students

As the new academic year begins at Charleston Southern University, faculty and staff are welcoming a record number of students — an 18 percent increase in new freshmen and a 5 percent increase in overall enrollment over fall 2014.

“We are excited to welcome approximately 3,580 students to campus this fall,” said Debbie Williamson, vice president for enrollment management. “I am so proud of the way our campus personnel have worked to accommodate this record number of students, and we are looking forward to a great year.”

“We are blessed to welcome a record number of students,” said Jairy C. Hunter Jr., president of Charleston Southern. “Our faculty, staff and coaches are dedicated to integrating faith in learning, leading and serving, and this is evident in the success the university is enjoying.”

Freshmen moved into the residence halls on Friday, Aug. 21, and classes began Monday, Aug. 24.
