Stephen Michael Cothran of Pendleton, 64, died Aug. 13, 2015 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson, he graduated from Anderson College in 1971, Clemson University in 1974, and Trinity Theological Seminary in 1979 with a master of divinity degree.

He was ordained in 1973 by North Anderson Baptist Church. He pastored several churches, including Refuge Baptist Church, Wolf Stake Baptist Church, Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, Freedom Fellowship Church, and New Testament Baptist Church, where he was serving at the time of his death. He also spent several years as an evangelist.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Greene Cothran, two children, three stepchildren and six grandchildren.
