Richard Hal Pendleton of Union died Aug. 29, 2015.

Born in Union, he graduated from Furman University in 1979 with a B.A. in religion and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1983 with a master of divinity degree.

He pastored churches in Virginia, Florida and South Carolina. His home church and last church was First Baptist of Union.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Donna Eubanks Pendleton, four children and a grandson.
