Tommy Thurston, pastor of Bowman First Baptist Church, announced his retirement effective Oct. 11. Thurston has served as pastor of churches in North and South Carolina for 41 years. He is a graduate of North Greenville College, Gardner-Webb College, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Thurston and his wife, Barbara, have two children and seven grandchildren. They will reside in Easley, where he will be available for pulpit supply and prayer seminars.
