Brian E. Motts is the inaugural recipient of the Andrew Hughes Memorial Scholarship at Pacolet First Baptist Church.
Motts will attend Fruitland Baptist Bible College.
The scholarship fund honors the memory of Andrew Hughes, who served Spartanburg County for 18 years as a county sheriff officer and 19 years as a magistrate judge. The fund will be used to help any member of the church who has accepted the call of God into ministry and will pursue a degree in Christian studies.
